Happy Birthday to me ………… NOT!
Okay, I like zombie movies but I never though I’d be stuck in one. Yup, this morning I ran downstairs to open up my presents and found my little brother snacking on my parents. I don’t know what he was doing outside in the first place, probably playing with the dog, but he got himself bitten and everyone knows what happens next. Even he knew, he’s watched all those movies with me. Still, he came back inside and made breakfast of Mum and Dad. I’m just grateful they let me put a lock on my door or I could have been zombie chow too.
When I saw what he was doing to what was left of Mum and Dad, I run upstairs and grabbed my sword. He was chasing me the whole way so, when I grabbed it I just hid behind the door and waited for him to poke his head in, then I lopped it off. Ick, what a mess, all over my bedspread and rug. Mind you, I bet I’m the only one of my friends that’s been able to do that without getting in trouble.I had a peak out the window to see what was going on and there were heaps of mindless zombies, literally, just wandering around looking for food……. They ate my dog, they couldn’t work out how to get in to the bird cage to eat the parrot and the cat usually sleeps in my room, but I can‘t find him.
I secured the house as best I could, the furniture took ages to move on my own, and made sure I locked every door and window I could. There were some funny noises from the basement but I was too frightened to look down there, I hope it was just the cat.
I had to clean up the bodies, they would stink the place up quickly and I don’t know how long I’ll have to stay here, it would be impossible to leave now.
I put them all in my brothers room and sealed it off as best I could. The smell will be unbearable in a day or two but I can’t leave until I know it’s safe enough to make it across the street without being eaten. I can’t afford to turn on the lights, just in case it’s seen through a tiny chink in the blinds, and it’s getting cold. I haven’t heard from anyone I know.
I suddenly feel very alone.
26/9/11
I took a peek outside, there are still zombies. The noise in the basement WAS the cat. He’s fine but it’s hard to keep him quiet. Why did I teach him to talk? He’s very aware that something is wrong and he keeps mewing at me to make sure I’m okay. If he keeps it up I’ll have to get rid of him some how, the zombies seem to be attracted to noise. They attacked a barking dog, they’ve tried to catch birds in trees, any noise seems to set them into hunting mode.
I’ll have to stay put until they clear away a bit. I’ll keep my sword near by just in case I need it. I hope I never do. The bodies in my brothers room are starting to smell. I want to cry but I’m scared I’ll end up dead if I do.
27/9/11
There was a noise in the basement again and this time I knew it couldn’t be the cat. I tried to stay as quiet as I could. I was so scared. I think I’m going to have to move as soon as the coast is clear enough. I hope the car is gassed up, I’m going to need it.
27/9/11 - late
There was a mass of flames outside and a guy yelling. I looked out and saw a blonde guy using a flame thrower on a group of zombies.
He started looking in all the houses. When he finally got to mine I told him about the noise in the basement. He said it was best not to look in there and that it was probably another zombie. I shudder to think that there has been one in the house while I’m here. He said his name was Zane. He helped me pack a few things that I needed, ransacked the house for anything that might be useful. He took the entire medicine cabinet, some bed sheets, every battery in the house, all the tinned and packaged food and filled some empty bottles with water. He also grabbed all Dad’s camping, hunting and fishing gear and loaded it into the car.
He said we should stay here tonight and move out tomorrow. He doesn’t want me to bring the cat but I won’t leave without him, he’s all I’ve got left.
28/9/11
Zane and I left this morning there were no more zombies that I could see, they seemed to have moved on from our area, the ones that Zane didn‘t kill last night. It was sad to leave the home that I grew up in but we need to get somewhere safer. Zane says that living this close to the city isn’t safe and we need to get as far away from other people as we possibly can. I have a thought about that. My parents took us to the Deal Island lighthouse one year. Only 2 people live on Deal island and there is are plenty of resources there, the caretakers have to be self sufficient. There are some animals there and fishing in Bass strait is good. The soil is good for growing crops and, with the choppy waters and rocks around it and the other islands, it’s hard to get to. Plus the lighthouse is solid and could be easily fortified in an emergency. Even if the caretakers are zombies, there should only be 2 of them, we should be able to handle them on our own.
It’s kind of tricky to get there but I’m sure we could make it if we tried. We would need a boat, fuel and our supplies, plus I think some gardening equipment or at least some seeds, would be a good idea. I might run it by him cause he seems to have no idea what we are actually doing. My cat hates being in his cage, he hates the car even more. I dread to think what he’ll think of a boat but I refused to let Zane have the car keys unless I brought the cat.
29/9/11
I ran Deal Island by Zane today and he loved the idea. The only problem is that he doesn’t know how we’ll get there. The biggest problem is finding a boat that is big enough to get us and everything we need there. We need something of a reasonable size so that we can carry our supplies and not run out of fuel on the trip. That means something that’s going to be in a decent size harbour, which means we need to in a decent size town. That means zombies and plenty of them.
The only thing I can think of is to head west, to Portland. The town only had 10,000 people, of course that could amount to 10,000 zombies but surely we aren’t the only survivors’ of this. There has to be someone else……… doesn’t there?
30/9/11
I’m so grateful that my parents had a navigation system put into their car, it has to have saved us some scrapes. The small towns are all almost deserted. There may be people hiding but poking around too much could be dangerous. Our supplies are running low and we’ll have to stop somewhere soon to load up. A bigger car might be better. Maybe we can find a 4WD that we can pinch.
1/10/11
That went well, really well.
We tried to get a bigger vehicle and had a rifle shoved in our faces. There are other survivors, thankfully. We found a farm that looked abandoned and decided to check it out. We found heaps of useful stuff; weapons, supplies, fuel and, best of all, hot and cold running water. We also found a woman with a lot of guns and ammo. Her name is Danni. She wasn’t very impressed that we were trying to pinch her vehicle either.
She knew what was happening, her farm hands had been infected and had in turn infected her husband while he was trying to kill them. She showed us the row of shallow graves, 8 in all, that she had dug on her own. She offered us shelter for the night, a hot meal and a shower but just for one night.
We told her what we were planning and offered to take her along with us but she refused. Her family had been on that farm for over 100 years and she refused to leave it. I asked her what she needed a 4WD for is she wasn’t going to leave. She smiled and told me I made a good point and handed me the keys. I was stunned. We asked about supplies and she said the town down the hill was reasonably safe to visit, but not to stay, and there were some places that we could get supplies from. She said she would come with us tomorrow so she could stock up too. 3 sets of eyes are better than 2.
2/10/11
I am very happy that Danni came with us. We made our way down to this tiny town, Danni says it used to have 800 people but it looked like most of them had been eaten or turned into zombies. She had asked us the night before what bank we used. It seemed a very strange question to me but when we got there I understood. The petrol station had to have a card, she said a lot of the ones in smaller towns were like that and it would be handy to have a lot of money on a bank card. I had a card from the bank in town so that was our first stop.
She hacked the computer and put a large amount of cash on to the card so that we could use the petrol pumps along the way. Pity nobody is running eBay anymore. We went to the mechanics and grabbed as many jerry cans as we could and filled them. I got a massive surprise when I opened the back of the 4WD and found it had a fridge. We also grabbed a few car batteries while we were there and a set of jumper leads.
Next we raided the farm supplies place. I found a chainsaw that I liked very much and grabbed some spare chains for it too. Even better, it was a 4 stroke so no mixing. We also found a fresh supply of guns and ammo, some hunting lights and better camping supplies, including some cushy mattresses. We also claimed a pair of good sturdy back packs in case we needed to ditch the car for any reason.
Then Danni took us to the pharmacy. We grabbed enough stuff to make a really good first aid kit but the car was getting pretty full so we didn’t get any luxuries. Next was the supermarket. That where things got sticky. I was really surprised that we hadn’t encountered any zombies thus far, surely the noise should have attracted them but Danni had been into town several times since the start of the zombie apocalypse and had killed a good number of them. Danni warned us that people that went into supermarkets were asking for trouble. The problem was that that’s where the food was so that’s were people went so that’s where the zombies went.
We went in the front very carefully, I had my new chainsaw ready to go and my sword strapped to my back, just in case. Zane had a rifle and his flame thrower and Danni had a rifle and an axe. We were greeted at the checkout by a very fat zombie chewing on what looked like an arm. When they saw us they threw it away and attacked at lightning speed. I hadn’t seen a zombie move that fast before. I didn’t have time to realise what was going on before Danni had taken it’s head off.
She asked why we froze. We explained that the only zombies we’d seen so far moved at a regular walking pace. We went through the supermarket and gathered up as much as we could fit in the 4WD. We encountered an ex-stock boy, who Zane, rather stupidly, set alight right near the cans of fly spray. This was the last lot of supplies anyone, including Danni, was going to get out of this town.
Danni was furious. She said she had no choice but to come with us.
3/10/11
We found more survivors, a mother and her 2 kids. We told them what our plans were. They said they were headed for Kakadu - vast difficult terrain with lots of hiding places but still over land and easy for zombies to find. No thanks, I like the island better even if it is cold and wet and hard to get to.
7/10/11
Getting through Portland was hell. Zombies everywhere, we must have killed thousands of them, literally. We had to set things up over a few days to even get out of there. We organized some diversions away from the docks so that we could access them with as little interference as possible. The first was a lot of very loud music at the footy club, well out of the way. We used the grounds PA system, usually reserved for the siren, and hooked up a stereo to it. I’m surprised there is still power available. We used the time that created to find and fuel up a boat that suited our needs.
The next day we set off something similar at the Westerns footy oval, the other side of town. This was a bit closer to the docks so we had to move quickly. There were more zombies in the supermarket, which we pretty well cleaned out. I hate supermarkets. The third diversion was something to behold. Danni ran primer cord, I have no idea where she found it, to the oil vats in every fast food restaurant in town. She set off the PA at the racecourse, as with the footy grounds, then drove like a mad woman to the docks. Once she got there she lit the primer cord as we were launching the boat.
It set off a massive chain of explosions that destroyed most of the town and set off a bushfire. I hope no one was killed. Dusty was that frightened he tried to jump in the water. So, I’ve spent a few days being very, very, very, sea sick. The waters in the strait are so rough and I don’t travel well at the best of times. But we’re here now. On Deal Island. The entire place was abandoned, the keepers weren’t there. We did a sweep of the island as best we could but the terrain is so rough that it was hard to patrol the entire thing. There are a couple of beaches that need traps set up on them but it’s really defensible, especially from the lighthouse.
We’ll need a few days to set up and plan. Just to sort ourselves out so that we can live comfortably on the island. I have a feeling that we’ll be here a while.
14/10/11
After much debate and discussion it’s been decided that we will live in 8 hour shifts. Someone will always be on guard in the lighthouse, which we’ve kitted out with stacks and stacks of weaponry. It’s such a great vantage point, you can see virtually the entire island from the top. Everyone has 8 hours sleep and the other 8 hours are for gardening, maintenance, recreation and whatever else we can think of. It’s going to get pretty lonely living like this but it beats being a zombie. I came across a radio in the museum. It still works so we’ve decided that at 6pm every night we’ll try it for 1 hour and see if we can find anybody out there. I hope there is.
23/10/11
No answer on the radio, no people anywhere that we know of. No sign of any zombies, not that I think they could swim out to us or make it as far as the lighthouse if they did. I’m so glad I have Dusty with me, I would be so alone without him.
27/10/11
We got an answer! On the radio, someone is in a boat in the strait and they heard our call! They’re coming from Phillip Island. There are 4 of them. We’re all so excited to hear there are others alive. They’re headed for King Island. I don’t know if it’s such a wise idea. There are people that live there and a lot of tourists go there. The zombie plague may have reached it.
28/10/11
We heard their screams as they were being eaten alive. We listened to them be ripped apart and there was nothing we could do about it from here, no way we could help them.
Are we all going to die out here?
19/11/11
The days have begun to blend together; Sleep, eat, garden, chores, guard. The same routine over and over again. Dusty is the only thing that keeps me sane. I haven’t really talked to the others much except when we are swapping areas and it’s little more than a hello. I would like to discuss something with the others. After some thought I’ve come to the conclusion that being here may not be the safe haven it appears, depending on the way this zombie thing works. My worry is that other animals, say birds, would become infected by the virus from eating either the zombies themselves (once they’ve been separated from their heads) or insects that have eaten zombie flesh. And what about larger scavengers, dogs and cats, could they contract the virus too? I dread to think it but the image of a zombie Bengal Tiger keeps entering my brain, or a zombie Great White. What if that were to happen? I think we need to be aware of those things in case we need to fish or hunt.
23/11/11
Best day in a long time. I was on one of the high cliffs on the island, wondering if it was worth living if this is what living is going to be, as a zombie was washed on to the rocks at the bottom. I couldn’t help but cry out, more in surprised amazement than in fright, and it began to climb towards me. Zane heard me and came running and saw it climbing. He was just about to shoot it when a massive gust of wind tore it’s arms from it’s sockets and blew the zombie down onto the rock below. It’s head splattered on the rocks but it’s arms were there, flapping in the wind still clinging to the rock.
I couldn’t believe it. We laughed so loud that we woke Danni up. She was none to impressed until we told her what had happened. I wonder how that zombie found it’s way out here?
29/12/11
This is a life of emptiness. I wonder if we would have been better off on the main land, fighting for our lives rather than existing like this. Day after day, week after week - it doesn’t matter, it’s all the same. We watch, we clean, we garden, we eat, we sleep. Seldom talking. There is nothing to talk about.
What good is surviving the Zombie apocalypse if this is what we have to live for? What will the future bring except more of the same?
3/1/12
We had people, actual people, land on the island today!! They came over from Wilsons Prom. They say there are still stacks of Zombies everywhere but lots of them are slowing down. Does this mean they will die……er, again?
The new comers are Rachelle (12), Ivy (14), Ben (20), Phil (33) and Damon (40). From what I can gather Rachelle and Ivy are sisters and Ben is a friend of theirs, the 3 of them are pretty tight. The girls are thrilled with Dusty, who is lapping up all the attention they are giving him. Phil was a wrestler and Damon likes to hunt so they’ll both be handy. We had a bit of a feed up tonight - they had masses of supplies with them, while Zane, Danni and I explained how we’ve been working things around the place. We now have 4 shifts of people and 2 people per shift with everybody getting more rest than we’ve had in months.
Rachelle and Zane hit it off instantly so they’re paired up. Ivy and Ben are together - Ivy is really shy and sweet and really, really, smart and Ben’s really funny. Danni and Damon have a ‘thing’ already. Danni says he’s the kind of person that annoys you in that very special way, whatever that means. That leaves me with Phil. Honestly, I’m not that sure about him. He seems nice enough but he’s really blunt, to the point of being hurtful sometimes. We might get to switch off after a few weeks and maybe I’ll get pair with Damon, Ben or Ivy but for now I’ll have to learn to live with him.
7/1/12
I hate Phil, he’s such a pig. I want to swap with one of the others but they all love working with their partners. It was our turn to do the gardening and cleaning and Phil, instead of tipping the dirty dish and floor water onto the plants like we’re supposed to chucked both buckets right at me! Then he tells me to go cool off and that I stink! Of course I stink, you’ve just thrown dirty water all over me. I wish Ben had let me slap him but it’s probably better that he didn’t.
I miss the real world and the ability to not have people like Phil involved in my life.
9/1/12
I swear if we ever get back to civilization, Danni and Damon will get married. They are just so harmonious. I wish I could have that one day. Lord knows I won’t get it on this island.
12/1/12
Heard a radio call this evening. Someone was calling from the mainland. They were looking for survivors. We sent a message back and found that there are a lot of other small bands, like our own, out there. Everybody wants to meet up when it’s safe.
When will that be, I wonder?
They say there are task forces starting to clean up the Zombies. I wonder where they came from? If the military could have been called out it would
have been done ages ago. We wouldn’t have even had a problem if they had been able to cope with something like this.
15/1/12
Had someone simply appear on the island today. Have no idea where they came from, they weren’t there then suddenly they were. He said he was a wizard and explained that it was witches and wizards that were killing off the zombies.
I didn’t believe him at first. I mean, wizards….. Really?! But, once we gathered the others together, he proved it to us. He said that they were looking for survivors, both muggle (??) and wizards. They wanted to keep everyone they could safe but wizards that were over age were going around in task forces destroying zombies. He said that some people, even people with magic, are still getting bitten but they are doing their best to reduce the zombie population to ashes as quickly as they could
He said something about the Ministry and that they should have been ready for something like this but I have no idea what he was talking about.
He stayed for a while and told us what was going on on the mainland but a lot of it didn’t make much sense. He said he would come back if it was ever safe to go home again but he didn’t know when that was going to happen.
18/8/13
The funny little wizard guy came back today. He said it was safe to go back home now. He left a manky old slipper and said that we all had to hold on to it at exactly 6:37 according to the watch he left us. I didn’t understand why until 6:37. It transported us to some place named Gringyegalgona. Imagine travelling by slipper!!
I hope I never have to do that again, the landing is pretty harsh and Dusty hated it, he ran and hid after we arrived and it took ages to find him. The little wizard lead the 8, 9 if you count Dusty, of us to a large dorm that will be our home until things can be rebuilt. The little wizard said that we won’t remember any of this one day.
I wonder what he means? Anyway, it’s nice to be home.

Diary of Hinata Honda
Day 1: Everything is so confusing. There are zombies. Not just those fake horror film types but god to honest real zombies, this is worse than catching my mum and dad making my little brother. When I saw zombies, I freaked. mum and dad were at some party involving one of their friends and my little brother was outside playing with some of the neighbourhood boys that were around his age.
So i went up stairs and packed somethings like clothing, a diary and a pen and matches, dad did say that I wasn’t allowed to play with those again. but I ended up collecting matches because it was fun to burn things and watch them burn. After packing my trusty matches I googled what to do because google helps with everything but I heard odd groaning sounds from around the staircase. Groaning sounds that zombies like to make, along with the word “Brainzzzz”. I looked around my room for a weapon of any kind because I didn’t feel like burning the house down. Not yet anyway.
The closest that I found was a lamp on the bedside table, a decorative Japanese sword from my dad’s business trip to Japan and a weird paddle stick thing that mum had thought was “cute”. I tried to get the Japanese sword out of the casing but it wouldn’t budge stupid decorative swords! Grabbing the weird paddle stick I hid behind the door just as it was opening and used to sharp corner against the zombie...the zombie of my little brother. Today was the day that I killed my little brother. Who was a zombie but still my little brother. I knew I should have tried to call him inside as soon as I saw the zombies down the street through the window but I didn’t and now I killed him. And now I know that zombies bleed. They bleed red blood. With tears running down my cheeks I grabed the sword and paddle thing and stuffing them in a bag I grabbed some food from the cupboards and checking if there were any more zombies in the house. There weren’t.
I also grabbed some knives from the kitchen and some more matches where my mum and dad had thought they could hide it from me. And I ran away from the street where I lived to a new place. I don’t know where it was but it smelt bad and I kept looking over my shoulder and holding my paddle tightly. This is where I also found another person like me. Jimmy Peason. Apparently a worker from a factory that was having a smoke when he found a zombie, he called it a “Walker” zombie after seeing what a “Runner” zombie did to a person in the factory. He had nothing apart from a bag of food and water on him. He said that he ran here while the zombies were distracted. Like I had.
And we should go because the red light district wasn’t the place to be for the living or the dead especially for young children. Whatever a “red light district” was. So we ran again but not for long because I got a horrible stitch up my side from running too much, I curse my unfit body and we chose a building to stay, a hardware store.
Jimmy said that it would be useful to take some of the seeds from the place and to take any and all weapons that we could use. I wish we’d stay at a Big W instead where they might have some camping gear but Jimmy was the adult here so I let him chose the place and he seemed to know what he was doing. But before we went to sleep we checked the doors and everywhere and I gave Jimmy one of my knives to use. We had been lucky so far but who knows what will happen next.
Day 2: Jimmy was the one that woke me up the next morning. I dreamed of when my parents and little brother were in our house having fun. We were to get out of the hardware store immediately. And quietly as well. As Jimmy was telling me how he spotted 5 zombies outside the doors of the hardware store and it seems that they had spotted him as well since they were frantically trying to get in I couldn’t help but think I needed to ask Jimmy what immediately meant then Jimmy was attacked by a zombie but he killed it with the knife that I gave him by beheading it and pinning down to the ground so it couldn’t harm us. I’m glad I gave him that knife now.
He called the zombie a “Crawler” zombie. It only had half a body, the top half, and it leaked something behind it. It wasn’t blood; blood wasn’t a pale sickly green and smelt horrible. More zombies were trying to get in, none of them seemed too smart as there was a metal thing across the door to help people get in during hours. There didn’t seem to be anymore Crawlers but we were unsure so we grabbed what we could, including soft drinks that weren’t cold any more since the power seemed to be out.
Did this mean that the zombies got to the power station? I tried asking Jimmy but he shushed me and told me to keep quiet and follow his lead. I was angry at Jimmy but I knew it was for the best. We went a couple of blocks before Jimmy pushed me into an alleyway and looked around the corner. I wanted to block my ears. The screams of a person was horrible. It scared me so much but I couldn’t make a noise, Jimmy was covering my mouth with his hand and I knew if I made any noise we’d be next. It didn’t make it any better. Quietly we shuffled through the alleyway looking for anything that may spot us and give our position away.
It was like a spy game but really it wasn’t I don’t think that I had looked around me so many times before. I whispered it to Jimmy and he gave me a word for it; paranoid. He also gave me the spelling for it so I could write it down. We were paranoid. Paranoid that something would give our position. It wasn’t a good feeling and once Jimmy had checked for zombies we were out of the alleyway. There was a person trying to start a car. A stupid person. Starting cars made noise, noise attracts zombies or so Jimmy told me. There was another person with that stupid person who looking around and spotted us and used a hand movement to make us come to him. Jimmy went and I followed.
The person who made us come over was called Allen and the stupid person was called Octavia. Allen was wearing a dress. He said it was robes and he was a wizard and was trying to get stupid Octavia to give up on driving a car. Octavia has tanned skin. And kept saying bad words. Octavia had stopped trying to start the car after zombies found us. Stupid Octavia. Allen used his wand, an actual wand to create fire. He said it wasn’t his best subject in school, DADA, whatever that meant and stupid Octavia had a gun.
Guns make more noise. I think that Stupid Octavia is going to keep that stupid part forever. But we somehow got through a lot, I think it was Allen’s doing and all of his spells. Jimmy used my knife to cut them down and I had my paddle. When Stupid Octavia saw it she made a insulting noise so I found it fair that I could hit her with it; it made less noise than her gun. Allen gave me a look that my parents usually gave me and Jimmy gave me a smile but it wasn’t so much of a smile but he still looked happy.
This time instead of running Allen used this weird teleporting thing to teleport us somewhere else but it made me feel sick, really sick. Worse than when I had a cold that made me vomit. Jimmy didn’t look so good either but Allen lead us to a house somewhere unknown. Like a lot of places that I’ve been recently. Jimmy didn’t look comfortable going into the house and insisted that we should try to get into the country side. But we stayed the night. The house belonged to a witch called Jenny.
I think Allen and Jenny are boyfriend and girlfriend but they don’t seem to be lovey. The house was really crowded with many other people but I was the youngest. Nobody seemed to be my age they were all older.
Day 3: Going to that house was a mistake! There was a zombie attack again. Jimmy said they were lured here by how many people were in the house. Jimmy and myself got out of the house through a window and onto a tree outside the house. I don’t know what happened to Stupid Octavia or Allen or Jenny or any of the others really apart from a old man that used spells on the zombies in the front lawn and a older boy running outside to escape but he didn’t make it. I didn’t want to watch and I regret that I did since there was a Runner zombie after him and a weird zombie that made him watch the zombie dance. Jimmy named it a “Thriller” and said that I wouldn’t get the reference since I was too young. But I’m ok with that since I didn’t have to know what a Thriller was really and all I needed to know was it was a zombie named after something.
There were screams and shouts from inside the house and a few zombies surrounding our tree. There were many lights coming from inside the house and the older boy was one of the zombies around our tree. Like my brother. I wonder if I’d find my parents in similar states of being a zombie. But I chased that thought away as I rummaged through my bag. Good old supply of matches. Now everything can burn. Jimmy was looking at my strangely but I didn’t care. It will all burn. And burn it did. I lit a match and dropped down to a low branch. Jimmy was yelling at me but I, I just didn’t know what happened.
I was holding the match swinging by my legs, zombies underneath me and I let the match go into what was left of the zombie’s hair. And lit another one. And let that one go again into the zombie’s hair. It was fun watching them burn until I felt a hand holding my waist. I thought it was a zombie, a zombie had got me but it was Jimmy. Jimmy got me up to a high branch and scolded me for what I did. Now we had burning zombies underneath our tree. Trees were flammable, again a word from Jimmy.
Then out of nowhere the zombie’s heads went off their necks. The fire spread across the garden and water came out of nowhere towards our tree. It was Allen and another person. I felt like everything had drained the life out of me and dropped against Jimmy. We were saved. But there was still a garden on fire. Then we were floating towards Allen and the other person. When Allen had set us down he said that the other person was Julius, his partner at work. Then we had to touch this large stick and we were gone again. We had teleported to somewhere else using a stick. Jimmy didn’t look to happy but we had left that zombie filled place. So I was happy. Jimmy called me easy to please and that he was glad for it and gave me a chocolate bar. Jimmy also called me a pyro. He told it was a person who likes fire. I’m a pyro.
The new place was shabby but in the background was a castle. It was beautiful. I said so and Allen told me that Hogwarts had its anti-muggle wards and anti-apparition wards down to help people. He also told me that a muggle was a non-magical person like me or Jimmy and that apparition was teleporting. We went inside and got greeted by many people. There were so many people around. So many people but everyone was still older than me but they made me feel welcomed but I still wanted to be near Jimmy. Jimmy has helped me a lot and is smart. Dinner was so good. I felt happy but it was also at dinner I learnt how this all started. Apparently someone in the “Department of Mysteries” was playing around with “Inferi” and how they worked and how to modify them but a few got loose and went up into London and people became zombies. But wizards and witches call them something else they’re Inferi to them.
Day 4: Jimmy seemed ok with living at Hogwarts with the other people inside the castle. It seems that we’re staying until the zombie thing has gone away and they’ll erase our memory except I don’t think they can bring back the dead. They wouldn’t be able to bring back my little brother and my parents if they’re not alive. I tried asking Allen to locate my parents for me but he said that he couldn’t that it doesn’t work like that and gave me a chocolate bar.
He said it would make me feel better. It made me feel a little better but I still didn’t like it. Then I went to find Jimmy. At least Jimmy will know what happened to Ryan. Jimmy will make sure that we don’t lose our memories. At least I have this diary. So if I forget then I can read it. When I went to find Jimmy I heard two older wizards whispering with each other about “The war against zombies” and the new classes installed and how they weren’t happy about all of the muggles in the school.
They wore green on their dresses. I quickly ran past them and later I found Jimmy. It was hard looking for a person in a large castle I had to ask the paintings for directions. I told Jimmy what had happened on my first day and cried on him. He called me brave and that I shouldn’t feel bad. That I was good. I was a good girl and that made me feel better. Just.
Day 10: I found out by overhearing that zombies don’t have red blood, they have pale green blood unless they got the injuries while they were alive. I think I killed Ryan. I ran to the bed that the staff at the school gave me and cried because I was a murderer. I killed my little brother.
Day 13: Jimmy had found me and found out what I found out a couple of days ago. He gave me reasons on how I could had killed my brother or not killed him and I felt better, so much better.
Day 15: We’re still at Hogwarts but the students are saying how if you go a couple of kilometres there’s a group of zombies heading this way. Good news, today I finally got the sword out of the casing and have asked another person to teach me how to use one.
Day 20: The zombie war is upon Hogwarts all of the students have been taught spells to cut the heads off of the zombies and powerful burning spells. The staff at Hogwarts don’t seem to think that muggles can do anything but become zombies. Jimmy has been angry about this and said that we’ll show them. I have my matches, my paddle and I have my sword. I’m set. Jimmy now has an axe.
Day 21: We got rid of them. All of us, we got rid of the zombies. Some of the students used their broomsticks and others used spells that made them stop while others used their spells to burn and cut them. We muggles used what we could to cut them down some of us became zombies others got drenched in zombie blood while others like Jimmy and myself cut through them. Some of the armors in the castle came to life as well and cut the zombies down. Peeves, a postergist, had helped as well with cutting their heads off. A ghost had said that there hasn’t been anything like this since the 2nd Great Wizarding War. It was this night we celebrated.
Day 22: There’s still more out there and that means that we can still stay at Hogwarts. Wizards and Witches all over the world are trying to get all of the zombies and even made new spells to track zombies. It’s being taught to the students here. A couple of the Aurors that had been teaching the teachers how to use it had used it inside the castle and found a couple more zombies that had been hiding. Aurors are like the police but Wizardry police. Apparently zombies had found a way to use wizardry travel like their “port-keys” but so far all is good.
Day 89: It’s finally all gone. Every zombie on land and water are gone. And now the wizards and witches want to erase our memories but they can’t. They said there was too many people, muggles and wizardry kind, lost and that they can’t blame it on a muggle event since it happened all over the world. The Wizardry of Magic is going to announce their place in the world. So maybe this war on zombies has been good so far. Allen said since I don’t know where my parents are I can live with Jimmy or himself with Julius since Julius lives with him too. Jimmy had said yes although so I think I’ll live with him.
